Scan summary

The October 1 scan holds 18 active signals: 3 added, 2 updated, 13 retained and 0 removed. Two existing signals carry newer authority figures than the September 30 desk used. WHO's daily table lists 8,224 confirmed Bundibugyo Ebola cases, 3,982 confirmed deaths and 2,121 recoveries in the DRC through September 29. WHO says daily figures use the prior day's government situation report and are provisional and subject to revision. CDC lists 3,659 confirmed U.S. measles cases through September 24, 40 outbreaks, and 95 percent of cases outbreak-associated. Three still-active U.S. foodborne outbreaks that FDA lists without an identified product are added as separate investigations: CORE ref #1415, Listeria, 11 illnesses; ref #1421, E. coli O157:H7, 38 illnesses; and ref #1417, Listeria, 44 illnesses. No product or source is identified for any of the three, and FDA has not issued a product-specific consumer action. Thirteen September 30 signals are retained without restating their numbers. The El Niño–Southern Oscillation watch remains a separate global layer and is not included in the 18.

How this scan was run

This edition compared the latest WHO, CDC and FDA pages with the September 30 desk. Event date, authority publication or update date, TiPH detection date and TiPH publication date are stored separately and are not substituted for one another. Detection and publication date is October 1, 2026; each source's own observation date is shown on the signal and is not the date we found it. A record was added or updated only when a current authoritative source supported a material change. WHO Ebola figures in this edition are provisional daily-table counts through September 29 and can be revised. The three FDA additions have unidentified products and sources; no product-specific consumer action was invented. Thirteen previously published signals were reverified and retained; their TiPH modification dates were not changed. No signal was removed. The September 30 edition is preserved unchanged.

Signals reverified in this edition

This edition is situational awareness for public-health professionals and the public. It is not medical, clinical, or travel advice. Every signal is reverified against its authoritative primary sources; the desk adds a record only when a current source supports it, so an absence of new signals never implies an absence of global health risk.
